Carpentry is one of the oldest skilled occupations and is still widely needed in modern construction. This includes cutting, shaping, and installing wood for buildings and other structures.
Carpentry is often part of the first repair of wooden components in the construction of roofs, floors, walls, and other wooden structures. It is also often part of secondary repair work, such as making skirting boards, arches, doors, and so on. Carpenters may also need to prepare for shutters (molds in which concrete is poured), build stairs, install door and window frames, and so on.
